Water Butts

2012 was an exceptional year for all growers… It was so wet!

Yet Layton Permanent Allotment Association have spent £500 to increase its contribution to water conservation and reduce water bills.

The Allotment Association have a commitment to protecting the environment and identified that more could be done towards water conservation.

Having sourced a supplier of food product barrels, the Association purchased sufficient barrels and taps to give each allotment plot holder one each.

The barrels were delivered to site and with the help of committee members and allotment holders, distributed them to each plot.

The barrels will allow plot holders to capture 205 litres of rain water for use next and subsequent years, making savings on year on year water bills.
