BLACKPOOL’s VEGETABLE, FLOWER & PRODUCE SHOW 2016

Held here at our allotment site on Saturday 3 September 2016.

Organised by Layton Permanent Allotment & David Slack Allotment, the show was open to all Blackpool  residents, not just allotment plot holders.

The show attracted almost 200 exhibits in these classes…

Fruit and Vegetables - Potatoes, tomatoes, beans, onions, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, leeks, berries and trugs of kitchen vegetables.

Flowers - Dahlias, chrysanthemums, sweet pea, gladioli, carnations and floral arrangements

Produce - Victoria sponge, biscuits, fruit cake, lemon cake, fruit pies, jams, chutney and honey.

Children’s Section - Children’s Garden.

Unfortunately, the weather was not very kind to us.

It rained most, if not all day.

The marquees protected us and, the show.

The day started early with preparing the tables for the exhibits.

By 9:30 all the exhibits were in place and waiting for the judging to start.

Meanwhile, the entrants and visitors enjoyed the refreshments, cakes and biscuits available in the sites tearoom.

The invited judges for each class examined every entry in each category and awarded first, second and third places.

Meanwhile, the exhibitors waited patiently for the judges decisions on their hard work this growing season.
