Open Day 2016

Our Open Day was held on Sunday 31st July 2016. The weather was kind to us and, the many visitors who came along to visit.

It was also the same day that the 3 remaining flats at Queenstown were demolished by explosion. Many plot holders and visitors went to watch and then took the 5 minute walk back to our Open Day

With fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers grown on site, honey from our onsite bees and lots of home made jams, chutney, biscuits and cakes on sale, we offered the visitors lots to enjoy from the hard work of the plot holders here at Layton Allotments.

The other stalls - tombola, bottle tombola, crafts  and raffle also did very well.

Food available included BBQ burgers and the tearoom sold a wide variety of home made cakes and biscuits to accompany tea, coffee and selection of cold drinks.

Face painting was provided by one of our adopted charities - Aspired Futures, and our other charity this year was the RSPCA, who came along  with some of the small animals in their care.

Once again, 10% of our income on the day was shared between our adopted charities. It was nice to receive (a couple of weeks later) letters from the charity.

Layton Bee Project had a display, showing their work, with hive demonstration and honey, produced on site, for sale.
