Open Day 2017

Our Open Day was held on Sunday 30th July 2017. The weather was kind to us and, the many visitors who came along to visit.

With fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers grown on site, honey from our onsite bees and lots of home made jams, chutney, biscuits and cakes on sale, we offered the visitors lots to enjoy from the hard work of the plot holders here at Layton Allotments.

The other stalls - tombola, cake stall, crafts  and raffle also did very well.

Food available included BBQ burgers and the tearoom sold a wide variety of home made cakes and biscuits to accompany tea, coffee and selection of cold drinks.

Home made vegetable curry was tasty and proved very popular.

The book stall also sold DVD’s.

Once again, the plant stall sold a wide variety of flowers and plants.

Face painting was provided by one of our adopted charities - Aspired Futures, and our other charity this year was the RSPCA, who came along  with some of the small animals in their care.

We also had two donkeys who spent the day giving some of our younger visitors rides.

Blackpool Trinity Hospice had a stall explaining the excellent work they provide to the community, as a charity, with items for sale.

Layton Bee Project had a display, showing their work, with hive demonstration and honey, produced on site, for sale.

Thank you to all those that made our Open Day a success. From those that planned the event, those that contributed their time, contributed their produce. But especially to those that attended. Thank you.
